Icosahedrophilia podcast publication prospectus

Adventure fans, in case you’re wondering why the publication of Icosahedrophilia 185 has been delayed, here’s the deal. In the brief time I could devote to podcast editing during recent weeks, I’ve been struggling with the audio for the next adventure. It’s got a nasty hum/whine in it that I can’t seem to eliminate. I normally use SoundSoap to fix things like that, but I don’t seem to have the settings quite right for this particular noise. I can’t eliminate it from the gaps without silencing the background music, and I can’t seem to get it out of the times where people are speaking (which is obviously the heart of the show). I’m sure it’s just a matter of tuning the settings properly, but I’m also having issues that I think might be related to partial incompatibility between some of my audio apps and OS X Mavericks. At any rate, I’m working on it as fast as I can with all the other commitments I have going. (November is crazy busy for me professionally.) Don’t despair! The crew of the Broken Promise will return!

  1. Thanks for the update Chris, I appreciate you keeping us informed. Hope you get things sorted without too much hassle.

  2. Thanks Chris,

Any luck? I am willing to skip the background sound to hear the story. The real music is in the adventure.

  3. Any updates?

Yes! The standalone application for SoundSoap is available now, making it much easier to work with noise reduction. I plan to give it a whirl this weekend and see if we can’t get the next adventure up and running within a week or so!

  4. Huzzah! Looking forward to this!!!

I still can’t get rid of the whine in parts 1–2 of the next adventure. I am just going to stop fiddling with it and release it as it is. Parts 3–5 sound better. Don’t know why. Plan to record wrappers this weekend, and I hope to release episode 185 by Monday!
