Icosahedrophilia Special Edition 8: City of Destinies, Part 4
By Icosahedrophilia
Episodes 5–7 of the Icosahedrophilia Special Edition series presented you with round 1 of the battle interactive “City of Destinies,” as played at our low paragon tier table at OrcCon, held at the Sheraton Gateway LAX on the weekend of President’s Day 2012. Episodes 8–10 will present round 2 of the same battle interactive. Please listen now to episode 8 (part 4 of the adventure) or subscribe via iTunes, Zune, or plain old RSS. In this episode, we learn more about the threat facing Myth Nantar, and the PCs try to help by recovering an artifact called the emerald eye of legend.
This episode features the following segments:
Weighing Anchor
Alexis Kassan explains why she’s the Gamerati, and NewbieDM calls for your initiative roll.
The Hall of Heroes
Since the Special Edition series doesn’t always have a nautical theme, I rechristened the “Crew Manifest” to be the “Hall of Heroes” in the SE podcasts. Mickey Tan DMs this adventure for us. Players include David Schwarm, playing Deer, a halfling ardent; David’s son Jack, playing Reed, a halfling rogue; Mickey’s daughter Ariel, playing Lyra, a(n elven?) hybrid ranger/wizard; my son Nathan, playing a firesoul genasi barbarian named Vorfirix; and me, playing Orphicus, a satyr skald.
The Staging Area
I briefly explain the adventure setup for “City of Destinies.” We hear a brief assessment of the adventure thus far from DM Mickey Tan, and then receive a briefing from Fred Upton on the overall results of the first round and prospects for the second round.
The Weather Report
The PCs try to recover the emerald eye of legend.
The Prop Shop
I gripe a little bit about healing surges—not my character’s lack of them, but their use as currency—and identify the map used for this combat, one of the new maps included in the Haunted Temples map pack. Continue Magazine, um, continues to sponsor the Vorpal Network this month.
Bardic Lore
Special Edition theme theme and bumper music comes from the album Blood of the Dragon by Nox Arcana, ©2006 Monolith Graphics. All tracks are used by permission of the copyright holders.
I hope that you enjoy(ed) listening to “City of Destinies, Part 4,” and that you’ll join us when the adventure continues in “City of Destinies, Part 5″!
